Glacier ski holidays on the Pitztal Glacier
The Pitztal Glacier is located in the West of Tirol, just across a ridge and glacier from Solden and Otztal glacier.

Locally popular for the long ski season and as the starting point for ski tours to the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in Tirol, the Pitztal Glacier offers glacier skiing at the end of the Pitztal Valley. Linked from the car park base station, the Pitztal Glacier is reached via an under ground funicular. Officially this is the only descent at the end of the day although the season 2006-07 saw an emergency piste open, to be used to evacuate the ski area should problems arise with the lift system. A new gondola was opened the same season which replaced a surface lift. Plans are afoot to link the two glacier skiing areas of Pitztal and Solden, at present they are just near neighbours as the crow flies.
